In 2005, Adam went to rehab for an addiction to OxyContin, at the Toronto rehab center CAMH (Center for Addiction and Mental Health), which is where many of the songs for One-X were written,
including "Animal I Have Become" and "Pain". He is still sober, and there will be a docu-drama about it released in 2007.

E’ cominciato senza dubbio con mia mamma e mio papà che ascoltavano ogni tipo di bella musica quando ero piccolo. Mia mamma è una musicista, quindi è stata lei la prima a farmi vivere l’esperienza
delle perfomnce live. Mi ha portato a cantare con gruppi jam quando avevo 12 anni. La musica di Seattle ha ispirato molto me e i miei testi. Stavo cercando di capire come scrivere canzoni, e i Pearl
